Authorling is a fill-in-the-blank story maker mobile app for children aged 3 to 10. Your child picks a world, a character and the weather, then fills in the missing words. All while showcasing your child's name and favourite colour throughout to make the app and stories their own.

Tots get short stories with only a few words to fill. Older kids get longer adventures with more blanks in them. The missing words do the teaching: vocabulary practice that reads as play. Good for bedtime, the back seat of a car or a wet Sunday afternoon.

It is out now on the App Store, free to download, with an upgrade inside. Android coming soon!

Authorling fun facts

Every character has a name

12 of them - Rusty the Fox, Lilly the Fairy, Cedric the Knight and the rest. Your child picks who the story is about, and the book is written around them.

It knows whose book it is

Your child's name goes on the cover. Their favourite colour, picked from 7, runs right through the app and every story they make.

There are no wrong answers

Every blank offers a handful of words and all of them fit. Your child cannot break the story or get it wrong, so there is nothing to fail at.

It grows with your child

4 age settings, 3 to 4 up to 9 to 10. Short and simple at one end, longer stories at the other, with words chosen against the UK primary curriculum to stretch them a little.

192 stories and counting

Every one written and checked before the app shipped, against strict instructions on what can appear at each age group. It needs no signal, so it works in the car or on a plane.

Nothing leaves your phone

No ads. No account. No sign-up. Whatever your child makes stays on the device, and we never see it.

A name chosen with care

"Authorling" is a play on author and duckling - a young writer just starting out. Picked to stand apart from every other story app on the shelf.
